Objective (From Science Buddies project summary page)
What is the objective of this project?

Research Question
Choosing a question is one of the hardest parts of creating a science fair project, but you can start by rewording the Objective. Here are some guidelines….
1. Choose a question that cannot be answered with a YES or NO answer.
2. Read your project procedures very carefully and ask you teachers or parents for help when searching for ideas.
5. Narrow down your research. It is important to focus on ONE question
Remember: The first requirement of a scientist is curiosity. If a world class physicist can spend hours figuring out the way a curve ball works and the speed at which they work best, don’t assume any question you come up with is too easy to investigate.
Reminder: Keep track of all your progress in your logbook!
My question I want to answer is: ___________________________________________________________________________________________
Hypothesis
What do you think the answer to your question will be? The hypothesis is the possible answer that you will try to prove or disprove. A good way to write a hypothesis is by rewording your Research Question. Include “I think…..because…” Some examples are….
- I think the car will travel farther on the smoother surface because there is less friction.
- I think Plant A will grow the tallest because it is receiving the most sunlight.
- I think the Lysol will be the best cleaner because it contains bleach.
If you get this far and you realize your question can not be answered by the scientific method, return to your question and figure out whether any part of your question involves something that can be measured. If not, it is a question science cannot answer. If yes, rephrase your question and continue.
My hypothesis (the possible answer to by question): ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
